Profitec Drive review
By Kirill Gissa · Published · Specs checked Oct 16, 2026 ·

It ranks 16th of 59 semi-automatic espresso machines by our score, 9.25/10. Profitec does not publish a price for it; prices come from dealers. It has PID temperature control, which 28 of the 59 semi-automatic espresso machines share. Profitec says it warms up in 12 minutes; Marc, Whole Latte Love measured 11 minutes to READY GO message on display after the post-fast-heat flush (reviewer could make a coffee).

What owners say
Checked Oct 15, 2026Too few owner reviews to judge. In our score this is 1.75 of 2 points. How we score
- Owners on r/espresso who have had the Drive from a few weeks to six months describe it as a clear step up and say they still love it; one reports a refurbished unit's problem handled well by the retailer (Dec 2025–Oct 2026). The Drive has no Amazon listing, so there is no star rating to cite. reddit.com
- Out-of-box defects: 3 of 336 r/espresso posts and comments we read from Oct 2024 to Oct 2026 describe a brand-new Drive leaking from the steam boiler in its first week, a cracked group-head pipe fitting that soaked the inside and tripped the breaker, and a unit whose PID never came on (Dec 2025–Sep 2026). In the leak case the retailer sent a replacement. reddit.com
- Pump noise: 3 owners say the rotary pump is louder than expected or got louder over time, one with a rattle and a shaking pressure needle (Jan–Oct 2026). A quiet rotary pump is one of the Drive's selling points. reddit.com
“Honestly, I still love mine just as much as the day I set it up about six months ago.”
“Bought a $3800 Profitec Drive from WLL and it is leaking from the steam boiler.”
“Saw the Drive and bought it straight away. It seemed to out shine the ECM and the black dials are amazing.”
“Absolutely devastating hooking it up to the water and discovering this crack in the fitting of the pipe to the group head.”
“When I tried the machine at the store it seemed way more quiet… one of the reasons I got this machine was because of the silent pump.”
“The green power light turns on, but after that no PID, I do not hear the water pump, and the machine does not heat up.”
Quotes are word for word from the linked reviews, and we pick praise and complaints alike. Reviews written for a free product and reviews that make health claims are left out. Store ratings change over time; the date shows when we checked.
