De'Longhi Magnifica Evo Review
One super-automatic machine, $899.95. The De'Longhi Magnifica Evo espresso machine is a super-automatic with a LatteCrema milk carafe, listed at $899.95 on De'Longhi's US site (checked October 15, 2026). Its weak spot is heat: a three-year owner measured 185°F at the hottest coffee setting. On Amazon, 47 of 73 mentions of reliability are complaints. It suits one-touch cappuccinos for people who don't want to learn espresso.
De'Longhi Magnifica Evo at a glance
Warm-up: "measured" is Tom (Tom's Coffee Corner), time to ready.
Who it suits
you want a cappuccino or latte at the press of a button, with the milk handled by the carafe and the grounds by the machine. Owners on Amazon rate its everyday performance well: 84 of 110 mentions are positive.
you drink espresso hot and black, since the hottest setting reached only 185°F in one owner's test. Skip it too if you want cold foam; the Eletta Explore adds LatteCrema Hot and Cool for $1,100 more.
Specs and claimed vs measured
De'Longhi publishes a pump rating, strength levels, and drink count, but no heating type, warm-up time, or temperature figures. The reviewer column comes from 12 video reviews, five of them from one long-term owner; each links to the moment.
| De'Longhi says | Reviewers recorded | |
|---|---|---|
| Start-up | Not stated | 30–40 s for the start-up rinse (Tom's Coffee Corner) |
| Coffee temperature | three settings, no figure | 185°F (85°C) at the hottest setting, device not named (Gabe's coffee stuff) |
| Milk temperature (carafe) | Not stated | 160°F (71°C) at the lowest setting (Gabe's coffee stuff) |
| Pressure | 15-bar pump (a pump rating, not brew pressure) | not measurable without a gauge |
| Beans per cup | 3 strength levels | about 6.8 g on weak, 13.2 g on strong, by weighing spent pucks (Gabe's coffee stuff) |
| Cappuccino, button to cup | Not stated | about 1 min 47 s (Gabe's coffee stuff) |
| Noise at 2.6 ft (80 cm) | Not stated | 72 dB grinding peak, 55 dB pump (Cafelista) |
Temperature is the finding that matters. Gabe's coffee stuff measured 185°F (85°C) at the hottest of three coffee settings and called it low; the video doesn't name the thermometer. Cafelista found the first cup of a session “a little lukewarm.”
Milk runs the other way. The carafe frothed to 160°F (71°C) even at its lowest setting, above the 140–149°F range the same owner recommends. If you drink milk drinks, the heat is fine; if you drink espresso, it's the number to weigh.
The grinder runs about 4, 5, and 7 seconds for the one-, two-, and three-bean strengths (Tom's Coffee Corner). The first coffee appears about 12 seconds after the button (Joe Varacalli). Cafelista's meter put the grinder at 72 dB and the pump at a quiet 55 dB.
Real price: MSRP, street price, tax and shipping
De'Longhi lists the Magnifica Evo with the LatteCrema carafe (ECAM29084SB) at $899.95 (checked October 15, 2026). We couldn't log a street price: Amazon's product page returned errors, and the Amazon listing we track for reviews showed the machine as currently unavailable that day. Add sales tax, which varies by state.
De'Longhi's US store offers “Get Free ground shipping on orders over $40,” so the machine ships free by ground in 5–7 business days. The running costs are the DLSC002 water softener filter and EcoDecalk descaler, both sold on De'Longhi's site; the machine comes with EcoDecalk to start.
Where to buy: De'Longhi direct vs Amazon
Buying from De'Longhi directly gets you two things: its return window and automatic warranty registration, which adds a year (see below). De'Longhi's own return policy covers online purchases from its store; anything bought at a retailer follows that retailer's policy (returns page, checked October 15, 2026).
Elsewhere, check the seller. De'Longhi says: “This warranty does not cover any products purchased through an auction, a private seller (such as E-Bay,..) or a non-authorized online reseller.” On Amazon, the listing we track showed the Evo as currently unavailable on October 15, 2026, with 4.0 out of 5 from 1,049 ratings. Its rating split is lopsided: 62% five stars and 16% one star.
Financing
De'Longhi's US product page shows Klarna with “Pay in 3 interest-free installments” (checked October 15, 2026). On $899.95, that splits the cost into three payments; the page doesn't show other terms, so read Klarna's before you commit.
Warranty and returns
The written warranty for De'Longhi's fully automatic machines is two years: “From the purchase date, our obligation under this warranty is to provide two (2) years free parts and labor on the entire unit.”
Register the machine and the warranty page offers more, with some exclusions: “Register your Coffee Machine to Receive an additional 1 year on your warranty term.” Purchases from De'Longhi are registered automatically, which is where the site banner “Industry Leading 3 Year Warranty Included” comes from (warranty page, checked October 15, 2026).
The warranty covers the 50 states, DC, and Canada, and excludes machines repaired or altered outside De'Longhi's factory. Shipping for repairs is split: “All products in need of repair are to be shipped to an authorized De'Longhi Group service center at the owner's expense, and De'Longhi Group will then incur the return shipping costs.”
De'Longhi's returns page says “Returns are accepted within 30 days of purchase, provided the items are in good condition.” You send the machine back by an insured, traceable carrier, and the “original shipping fees are non-refundable.” Refunds arrive “within 14 business days of our warehouse receiving your package.” The policy mentions no restocking fee, and orders can't be canceled once placed (returns page).
Parts and service in the US
De'Longhi uses a network of authorized service centers, found through its service locator. Under warranty, you pay to ship the machine there and De'Longhi pays the return. The manual adds: “If repairs are required, contact De'Longhi customer services only.” The US hotline is 1-866-528-8323.
We found no spare-parts catalog on De'Longhi's US site, and its out-of-warranty repair page listed no products when checked. The brand store does sell the consumables: descaler and DLSC002 filters.
Grinder and brew unit
The built-in conical burr grinder has 13 settings; De'Longhi doesn't state the burr material. The brew unit, which De'Longhi calls the infuser, slides out for rinsing under the tap, with no detergent and no dishwasher, per the manual.
Owner videos show what can go wrong. George Ingalls's two-year-old Evo jammed its infuser twice. The second time, beans had fallen into the pre-ground coffee chute; the first jam cleared with a reset, the second meant taking the machine apart. Gabe's coffee stuff had one no-pour fault in two years, cleared by a factory reset, and still calls the machine “very durable” at three years.
There's no bean-level sensor. Rubintech had the machine pour the milk for a cappuccino, then stop because the hopper had run empty, wasting the drink.
LatteCrema milk system
The LatteCrema carafe froths and dispenses milk on its own. In about three years of use, Gabe's coffee stuff saw it occasionally deliver hot milk with no foam, vent steam, or splatter. Pushing the carafe firmly back into place usually fixed it.
Frothing is also the top complaint we found among owners. Two r/superautomatic posts describe a frother that never foamed or a wand that turned to water. An Amazon reviewer wrote, “Machine is broken in less than 20 uses. The milk frother stopped working despite meticulous cleaning.” (checked October 15, 2026). One owner wrote, “Whenever I start to steam the milk it works for about 5 to 10 seconds then changes to a stream of water.” (r/superautomatic, September 16, 2026).
Another Evo version (ECAM29043SB) has a manual steam wand instead of the carafe. Joe Varacalli took milk from about 46°F to 130°F with it in about 50 seconds, without stating the volume.
Magnifica Evo vs Evo Next and other versions
The Magnifica Evo sold on De'Longhi's US site is ECAM29084SB, “Magnifica Evo Fully Automatic Espresso Machine with LatteCrema System, One Touch, 7 drinks.” The ECAM29043SB version swaps the carafe for a manual steam wand. The newer Magnifica Evo Next (ECAM31080SB) is a different model, and we haven't added it to our database yet, so we don't compare specs here.
Within De'Longhi's range, the step up is the Eletta Explore at $1,999.95: the same 13-step grinder count, plus LatteCrema Hot and Cool for cold foam. Our Eletta review covers it, and our Philips 3200 review covers a rival with a different milk system, LatteGo.

Size, power and water
The Evo runs on 120V at 1,250W and weighs 21.17 lb. De'Longhi lists the size as 17.32 × 9.45 × 14.17 in without labeling the order; it reads as depth × width × height. The tallest cup that fits is 5.46 in. The water tank holds 61 fl oz (1.8 L), the grounds container 14 oz, and there is no plumb-in option.
Daily upkeep: cleaning, descaling and water
The manual (July 2023 edition) ties descaling to an indicator on the control panel rather than a calendar. It also says “Setting the water hardness as soon as possible will enable the machine to optimize the frequency of descaling” (p. 9). De'Longhi supplies EcoDecalk with the machine, and Family Pop TV timed the guided descale cycle at about 45 minutes.
De'Longhi recommends its DLSC002 water softener filter (p. 8): “After two months (see date indicator), or after 3 weeks if the appliance has not been used, the filter should be replaced” (p. 9). The infuser gets rinsed under the tap; Family Pop TV does it monthly.
Recalls and safety notices
We found no CPSC recall for De'Longhi espresso or coffee machines as of October 15, 2026. The CPSC database returns three older De'Longhi recalls, all for heaters and fans. We found no UL or ETL listing record in the manual or on the product page. De'Longhi lists this model on its California Proposition 65 page, with the warning included in the packaging.
What owners say
Amazon's listing shows 4.0 out of 5 from 1,049 ratings and sorts reviews by topic (checked October 15, 2026). On Reddit we read 242 posts and comments from January 10, 2025 to October 11, 2026. Reddit is one site, below our two-site threshold for a complaint index, so treat those counts as a floor.
What owners complain about
Reliability leads by count: 47 of 73 Amazon mentions are negative, and durability is worse by ratio, 20 of 30. Value for money leans negative too, 33 of 56. On Reddit, the frother is the theme that repeats, and 3 of 242 posts (1.2%) described a breakdown.
What owners praise
Everyday performance gets the most praise: 84 of 110 Amazon mentions are positive, and coffee quality 43 of 58. The long-term owner behind five of the videos above still calls it “very durable” after three years. A search of r/superautomatic returned 119 posts about the Evo, one of which described it breaking down.
Questions people ask
Is the De'Longhi Magnifica Evo worth it?
It is if you want milk drinks at one touch and won't fuss over espresso. At $899.95 you get a 13-step grinder, a removable brew unit, and the LatteCrema carafe, with two years of warranty and a third after registration. Weigh that against the heat: one owner measured 185°F at the hottest setting, and 47 of 73 Amazon mentions of reliability are complaints.
What are the common problems with De'Longhi espresso machines?
On the Magnifica Evo, owners report three problems most: a milk frother that stops foaming, coffee that isn't hot enough, and jams in the brew unit. One jam we found came from beans landing in the pre-ground chute. On Amazon, 47 of 73 mentions of reliability are negative. Several faults clear with a factory reset or by reseating the carafe.
How do I make the Magnifica Evo coffee hotter?
Set the coffee temperature to the highest of its three levels. Even there, one owner measured 185°F (85°C), and Cafelista found the first cup of a session lukewarm, so the first drink after switching on is the coolest. De'Longhi doesn't publish a brew temperature.
What's the difference between the Magnifica Evo and the Evo Next?
They are different models. The Evo sold in the US as ECAM29084SB has the LatteCrema carafe and seven one-touch drinks; the Evo Next is a newer line, model ECAM31080SB. We haven't added the Next to our database yet, so we can't compare their specs or prices side by side.
