Profitec Drive Review

One espresso machine, price not available. The Profitec Drive is a dual boiler espresso machine with a rotary pump and a flow-control valve on the group, $3,499 at Clive Coffee (checked October 16, 2026). With Fast Heating on, reviewers saw it ready in about 10–11 minutes from cold, and a retailer's test device held brew temperature within about 1°F of the set point. It suits someone who wants flow control without a long wait each morning.

Specs and claimed vs measured

Profitec publishes boiler sizes, power, and a Fast Heating time, but no brew temperature or pump rating. The reviewer column comes from seven videos; Whole Latte Love, the most detailed, sells the machine, as do Bella Barista and iDrinkCoffee.

What Profitec states vs what reviewers recorded on the Drive (videos from January 14, 2024 to September 12, 2025)
Profitec saysReviewers recorded

Fast Heating is the Drive's headline. Per Whole Latte Love, it overheats the brew boiler to 266°F (130°C) for 270 seconds, then asks for a flush. It runs only when the boiler is below 104°F at power-on. Whole Latte Love's ready prompt came at about 11 min, and three other channels put it at about 10–11 minutes.

The steam boiler takes longer: about 16 minutes to its top setting in the same test. Without Fast Heating, Whole Latte Love's setup guide says to warm up for about 20 minutes.

Once warm, temperature control is tight. At set points of 196, 200, and 204°F, Whole Latte Love's portafilter test device averaged within 1°F, never more than 1.9°F off. Right after the fast-heat prompt it briefly read 205.5°F against 200°F.

Real price: MSRP, street price, tax and shipping

Clive Coffee listed the Drive at $3,499 (Clive, checked October 16, 2026); Profitec doesn't publish a US price. Add sales tax, which varies by state. Clive offers “Free shipping on orders over $75.”

There's no grinder in the box, and a machine at this level is usually paired with a capable one; see our espresso grinder picks. If you plumb it in, Whole Latte Love gives an inlet pressure of 1–2 bar (15–30 psi).

Where to buy: Profitec dealers

Profitec's US store locator lists four dealers: Whole Latte Love, Pro Coffee Gear, Clive Coffee, and Gustos Coffee Co. Its service page says spare parts are available “Only from one of our authorised dealers.” Maintenance also goes through an authorized retailer, so the dealer you buy from is your service contact.

Clive's return terms carry real costs: “Returns are accepted up to 30 days from the date the order was delivered.” A return label for a machine costs $50. There's a 10% restocking fee unless you exchange for something of equal or greater value, and 20% if it comes back poorly packed (returns page, archived February 17, 2025). Open-box units can't be returned.

Financing

We found no financing offer on Clive's Drive listing; the archived page showed only a store rewards line. Pro Coffee Gear's page didn't load when we checked. If you need to spread $3,499, ask the dealer for terms in writing.

Warranty and returns

Drive

'We will provide a return label for non-palletized machines for a flat rate of $50, which will be deducted from your refund'; 'Machine returns will receive a 10% restocking fee, unless you are exchanging for a product of equal or greater value'.

Profitec publishes no US warranty terms, so coverage comes from the dealer. Clive's Profitec listings advertise a “3-year parts and labor warranty provided by Clive Coffee.” We read that on its Profitec GO listing and couldn't recheck the Drive page, which blocked our requests. Ask the dealer to confirm the term on your invoice.

Returns follow the dealer's policy too; Clive's is above. Whichever dealer you choose, keep the receipt, since Profitec routes parts and maintenance through its authorized dealers.

Parts and service in the US

Clive repairs machines at its Portland, Oregon shop, by drop-off or ship-in, with the customer paying inbound shipping. Its bench rate is $150 an hour, and repairs carry a 30-day warranty. The other US dealers on Profitec's list handle their own customers.

The Drive manual points owners to authorized service points through Profitec's dealer search. Parts come only through those dealers, so there's no direct parts store to order from.

Boiler and temperature control

The Drive has a 0.75 L stainless brew boiler and a 2.0 L stainless steam boiler, each with PID control. You can switch the steam boiler off and run it as a single boiler, and an ECO mode is built in.

TechTravel Panda, an owner, saw the PID display dip to 194°F (90°C) after the post-fast-heat flush against a 201°F set point, then recover. So wait for the ready prompt after the flush before you brew.

Flow control: what it does

The flow-control valve sits on the group, with a gauge, and changes how fast water reaches the coffee. Whole Latte Love charted about 11 g/s at the stock 1¼ turns open and about 26 g/s at two turns, with no coffee in the basket. TechTravel Panda trimmed it to hold 9 bar on the group gauge during a shot.

Pump and pressure

The pump is rotary, and the reservoir can be swapped for a fixed water connection. A quiet pump is one reason owners choose it, which makes the noise complaints below notable: three r/espresso owners said theirs was louder than expected or got louder over time.

Steam wand and milk

The 2.0 L steam boiler is larger than the Bianca's 1.5 L. Whole Latte Love took 5 fl oz of fridge-cold milk to 140°F in 21 seconds at the 270°F maximum setting and in 38.5 seconds at about 240°F. The gauge read about 1.75 bar at the maximum.

Size, power and water

The US Drive runs on 115V at 1,600W and weighs 68.3 lb. Profitec lists it at 13.4 W × 19.1 D × 16.5 H in without the portafilter. The 95 fl oz (2.8 L) tank can be replaced by a fixed water connection.

Profitec Drive vs Lelit Bianca

The Lelit Bianca is the closest rival in our database: dual boilers, flow control on the group, and a similar price. The Drive costs $499.05 more at the stores we checked. It warms up faster with Fast Heating and has a larger steam boiler, while the Bianca has a paddle instead of a valve.

Daily upkeep: cleaning, descaling and water

We haven't logged the descaling or backflush intervals from the Drive manual yet, so we don't quote them here. ECO mode and the switchable steam boiler are the built-in ways to cut idle heating between uses.

Recalls and safety notices

A CPSC search on October 15, 2026 found no recall for any Profitec espresso or coffee machine. We found no UL or ETL listing record for the Drive.

What owners say

The Drive has no Amazon listing, so there's no marketplace rating. We read 336 r/espresso posts and comments from November 14, 2024 to October 14, 2026. One site isn't enough for a complaint index, so read the counts as a lower bound.

What owners complain about

Pump noise leads with three posts. One owner wrote “When I tried the machine at the store it seemed way more quiet… one of the reasons I got this machine was because of the silent pump.” (r/espresso, April 25, 2026).

Three posts we quote from describe leaks or electronics faults. One owner wrote “Absolutely devastating hooking it up to the water and discovering this crack in the fitting of the pipe to the group head.” (r/espresso, December 14, 2025). Another wrote “The green power light turns on, but after that no PID, I do not hear the water pump, and the machine does not heat up.” (r/espresso, July 4, 2026).

None of the video reviewers reported a breakdown.

What owners praise

One owner wrote “Honestly, I still love mine just as much as the day I set it up about six months ago.” (r/espresso, December 4, 2025).

Another wrote “Saw the Drive and bought it straight away. It seemed to out shine the ECM and the black dials are amazing.” (r/espresso, October 8, 2026). A search of r/espresso returned 231 posts about the Drive in the past year, four of which described a breakdown.

Questions people ask

Is the Profitec Drive worth it?

It is if you want flow control and a fast start. At $3,499 you get dual PID boilers, a rotary pump, a flow valve, and Fast Heating that reviewers saw finish in about 11 minutes. The Lelit Bianca costs $499.05 less with a flow paddle but warms up more slowly. Check the dealer's warranty, since Profitec publishes none for the US.

How long does the Profitec Drive take to heat up?

With Fast Heating, Profitec says about 12–13 minutes; reviewers saw the ready prompt at about 10–11. The steam boiler reached its top setting at about 16 minutes in Whole Latte Love's test. Without Fast Heating, Whole Latte Love's setup guide says about 20 minutes.

Can the Profitec Drive be plumbed in?

Yes. Profitec lists the 2.8 L tank as switchable to a fixed water connection. Whole Latte Love gives an inlet pressure of 1–2 bar (15–30 psi) for the hookup. Have a plumber or your dealer do it if you aren't sure.
